10 Lessons I Learned on my First Vacation as a Photographer
For the first time in 4 years and really for the first time as an "adult," I took an entire week off. As a freelance photographer it's extremely scary to take off time during the first few years of your career. Questions like "What if I miss out on a huge job?" "What will my clients say when they can't reach me?" "Will this end my career?" all constantly haunted me leading up to my first vacation.
Montana, Big Sky, and a Photographer's Dream Job
I had to tag along an actual fitness vacation, as a 1 man crew, without holding anyone back. This means I had to keep up with some of the fittest people in the country such as running coach Nate Helming, fitness expert Jacqueline Kasen, and blogger Natasha Linton.
Photographing Basketball in Rwanda
Back in June, I was lucky enough to partner with a Boston-based nonprofit, Shooting Touch, to travel to Rwanda and document the participants in their "Basketball Health Corps" initiative. They use the sport of basketball and their partnerships with health administrators to teach children valuable skills and preventative treatments when it comes to HIV/AIDS, malaria, and daily health.
