Partnering with School on Wheels Massachusetts: Telling Stories Close to Home
At Doza Visuals, we thrive when our storytelling supports meaningful change. Our recent collaboration with School on Wheels Massachusetts, an organization dedicated to supporting local children impacted by homelessness, was an especially powerful experience. Unlike some of our global partnerships—such as our ongoing work with Shooting Touch in Rwanda—this project hit particularly close to home, right here in our own community.
School on Wheels Massachusetts (SOWMA) has a clear mission: empower children affected by homelessness through educational support, resources, and dedicated mentorship. We were honored to create their 2024 gala fundraiser video, an essential piece that not only boosted their fundraising efforts significantly but also became central to their broader marketing strategy.
The video we produced captured powerful, heartfelt testimonies from students and families whose lives have been positively transformed by SOWMA’s dedication. Students like Aysia shared stories of overcoming the challenges of homelessness and foster care to thrive academically, thanks to the encouragement and resources provided by School on Wheels. Another inspiring student, Mikaya, described how her educational journey became clear and achievable with support and guidance, demonstrating the life-changing impact of personalized mentorship.
Throughout filming and photography sessions at various shelters and educational sites in our local communities like Stoughton and Brockton, it became vividly clear how deeply embedded School on Wheels is in the fabric of our towns. Our visual storytelling highlighted real moments of connection and empowerment—students gaining confidence, volunteers offering compassionate guidance, and educators passionately advocating for brighter futures.
One of the key successes from this project was showcasing the exponential growth of School on Wheels’ initiatives, such as their backpack program, which grew from distributing 50 backpacks in its first year to an incredible 11,000 backpacks annually today. Each backpack symbolizes not only school supplies but also a powerful step towards independence, confidence, and future stability for each student.
Working closely with Cheryl, Mal, and their dedicated team reinforced our commitment to creating visual content that amplifies essential nonprofit work. This partnership embodied our belief that local storytelling has the potential to generate tangible community support and lasting change.
We’re proud to have contributed to School on Wheels’ crucial mission. This experience reaffirmed our passion for crafting impactful, authentic visual narratives for nonprofits. If your organization is looking for powerful, engaging storytelling to support your cause and drive meaningful action, we’d love to collaborate.
